Thunder Mountain Longhorn - Pepper Seeds

Thunder Mountain Longhorn - Pepper Seeds

Minimum Seed Count: 10

Thunder Mountain Longhorn Pepper:

This rare Chinese variety from Guizhou’s Thunder Mountain region grows some of the world’s longest chili pods—often 10–16 inches, sometimes even longer! Pods are thin-walled, twisting, and ripen from green to bright red. The flavor is slightly sweet and smoky with medium heat (about 20,000–40,000 SHU). Plants reach 3–4 feet tall and produce heavily, making them both ornamental and productive. Excellent for drying, stringing, or using fresh in stir-fries and sauces.

🌱 Planting Guide:

  • Start Indoors: 8–10 weeks before last frost

  • Plant Depth: ¼ inch

  • Germination Temp: 80–85°F

  • Germination Time: 10–28 days

  • Transplant Outdoors: After frost danger passes and temps stay above 60°F

  • Soil: Well-drained, rich in organic matter (pH 6.2–7.0)

  • Spacing: 18–24 inches apart

  • Sunlight: Full sun (6–8 hours daily)

  • Fertilizer: Balanced fertilizer every 2 weeks after transplanting

  • Water: Keep soil evenly moist, not waterlogged

  • Harvest: 85–95 days from transplant

  • Notes: Support plants as pods grow long and heavy; harvest red for best flavor and heat
